Kimberly Schlapman, a 1987 graduate of Habersham Central High School, will be honored with the 2026 HCHS Lifetime Achievement Award. The school announced in a press release that the award will be presented during the Class of 2026 graduation ceremony in May. Schlapman is nationally known for her role as the high-soprano voice in the country group Little Big Town. The school cited her high-school leadership and long record of musical participation as reasons for the recognition.
Recognized achievements:
- Schlapman served as senior class vice president and participated in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Community Bank and Trust Student Advisory Board, Beta Club, school chorus and concert choir while at HCHS.
- She was selected to the Georgia All-State Chorus for five consecutive years and attended the Governor's Honors Program for vocal music.
- After high school she received a vocal music scholarship to Samford University and later earned a degree in child and family studies from the University of Tennessee.
- Schlapman joined Karen Fairchild, Jimi Westbrook and Phillip Sweet to form Little Big Town after moving to Nashville; the group has won multiple CMA awards, an American Music Award, a Daytime Emmy and four Grammy Awards, and was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 2014.
- HCHS also noted Schlapman's work as an author and cook, including a cookbook and the children's book "A Dolly for Christmas," which draws on her family's adoption journey; she is the daughter of Tolbert and Barbara Bramblett of Demorest.
