County officials announced tentative plans at a Lahaina Community Meeting on Wednesday evening. The facilities are being discussed in response to community requests for more recreational areas and gathering spaces. DPR Director Patrick McCall said the project is intended to support connection, healing, resilience and long-term recovery for West Maui residents.
