Fleet Week is set to arrive in Houston April 15-22, 2026 after being postponed last year because of the government shutdown. The City of Houston and the U.S. Navy announced the list of participating ships earlier this week. Organizers say the event will include public ship tours, community outreach and educational demonstrations across the city. Officials noted that more than 1,000 Sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen will be involved and that Commander, Navy Region Southeast is the Navy planning lead.
Ships participating:
- USS Kearsarge (LHD-3): a Wasp-class amphibious assault ship used for multi-purpose operations including troop transport and aircraft support.
- USS Minneapolis-St. Paul (LCS-21): a Freedom-class littoral combat ship designed for near-shore operations with speed and agility.
- USS Cooperstown (LCS-23): another Freedom-class littoral combat ship with capabilities for coastal missions.
- USCGC Edgar Culbertson (WPC-1137): a Sentinel-class fast response cutter equipped for search and rescue, law enforcement and port security.
Summary:
Officials said the event offers Houstonians an opportunity to meet members of the Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard and learn about their missions. Organizers announced the full schedule and additional details are available on the official Fleet Week Houston website.
