Content
Llyn Gwynant Campsite, beside the lake of the same name and close to Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), has submitted a planning application to Eryri National Park Authority. The owners say the proposals aim to improve safety around the central food and drink area and to provide better shelter for visitors in poor weather. The application includes several physical changes on site and a small new building for waste treatment. The proposals reference recent storm damage to campsite woodlands and planned re-planting efforts.
Planned changes:
- Re-align the access track so it passes behind the Cegin food outlets rather than in front, creating a pedestrian-only area in the central seating zone.
- Move the site entrance barrier as part of the re-routing and simplify the check-in area.
- Add a small extension to the Cegin food and drink hut to improve its visual impact.
- Install a stretch tent canopy over picnic tables at the Cegin and a veranda-style roof with clear panels beside the Y Bragdy brewery to provide shelter.
- Erect a small building to house an Ecobot waste-treatment machine intended to process cardboard, food and green waste and to inform customers about Welsh government waste rules.
Summary:
The applicants describe improved customer safety from the road re-alignment and enhanced visitor comfort from the canopies and small building additions. The plans also note recent woodland damage from a storm and include new planting. The application has been submitted to the park authority for consideration. Undetermined at this time.
