A barber preparing to take part in Strictly Inverness has been fundraising with a community ceilidh. Sean Macleod and his dance partner Molly Gillies are training for the event in May and organised the ceilidh to raise money for local causes. The event brought together local musicians and volunteers and drew a large crowd to the Inverness Legion. The pair said organising the night involved a lot of work but that seeing people enjoy the evening made it worthwhile.
Event details:
- The ceilidh was held at the Inverness Legion on Friday, January 9 and featured the Highland Fire Ceilidh Band with local musicians Calum MacPhail and Sean Cousins.
- More than 90 people attended the fundraiser.
- The event raised more than £3,100 in cash.
- Funds raised will go to Highland Hospice and the Inverness Ice Centre.
- Sean Macleod and Molly Gillies thanked the musicians and DJ Gary Tuach for helping draw a crowd.
- The pair plan further fundraising events before May, including quiz nights, a mediumship night, a race night, and a planned 24-hour charity haircut by Sean.
Summary:
The ceilidh raised a significant donation that organisers say will benefit two local organisations, and it also helped build momentum for the pair's upcoming appearance in Strictly Inverness. Training and further fundraising efforts continue in the months ahead as they prepare for the May event.
